Martin Chester: IFMGA British Mountain Guide

Bespoke adventures in wild placesMartin Chester off piste above Zermatt

As an International (IFMGA) Ski & Mountain Guide, and a Level 5 Kayak Coach I am basically as highly qualified as it gets in the great outdoors. As Director of Training of Plas y Brenin (the National Mountain Centre) and as Coaching Development Director of Mountain Training, I have been “Training the Trainers” in all UK outdoor qualifications, as well as training and assessing the next generation for the British Mountain Guides for many years. I hope this reassures you that I have the skills you need to lead you wherever you want to go, and the experience to ensure we enjoy sharing the adventure. For that is what it is really all about: from leading a team of MPs for their first paddle down the Thames; to skiing the first descent of a Himalayan peak – every team is unique, and every adventure is special.

So you will find no standard rates, and no off-the-peg packages here. I believe in skiing and kayaking as a team, and in the camaraderie of the rope in climbing. Guiding is all about sharing adventures and sharing the discovery of brand new places and experiences together.

If you have a particular objective in mind, then I can help you to find a suitable team to make it possible. If you and your mates are looking for the next great adventure, then I have a life-time of ideas to get you inspired.

Don’t hesitate to contact me, and I look forward to making it all happen.
